Persona story: circa 1000 AD
I am the bastard son of a Danish Hersir, Master Maelmarden of Ravens Keep, and a Norse mother. I was raised by my mother's family in Sudreya. She died when I was very young. As a young man I was want to follow in the traditions of my Viking father. I went on more than a few raids into Scotland and Ireland. This did not sit well with the Scotish King, and so I was sent of to the Holy Roman Empire to be trained in House Goldstar, the house of Duke Verron. There I served His Grace as squire. To fulfill his feudal obligation to the Emperor, His Grace sent me off as part of an armed escort for an Imperial delegation to Byzantium. While there my Norse heritage afforded me the opportunity to serve as part of the Varangian Guard. The Imperial Ambassador felt this move would further serve his mission for the Emperor. It is here that I gave up Old One Eye and began to serve the one true God. While in Byzantium I received word that my grandfathers hall had been raided and burned by a Viking band. I was granted permission to return to Sudreya. I outfitted a longship and sailed home with a warlike crew to avenge my family. Thus was Sudrea conquered and granted to me by Olaf Trygvason as a feudal holding from the Norse King. Now as a Jarl, I was asked by Lief Ericson to accompany him in a return trip to Greenland, to fulfill the command of the king to Christianize the settlement. While there I accompanied one of the expeditions to Vineland. I then returned to the Holy Roman Empire where I was released from service by Duke Verron and knighted by the Emperor for service to the Holy Roman Empire. After returning to Sudreya for a while, I received a request from Verron to sail to Trimaris to check on Goldstar lands there. Many an adventure was found and many a battle fought on this voyage. I returned from Trimaris to find that my most trusted huscarl had declared me dead, married my wife and burned down my hall. They have been driven out and the hall recently rebuilt with a new name, Arnhalla.
